Some Unusual Uses Of ToothPaste

Did you know toothpaste has some more interesting uses other than making teeth sparkling white. Read on to know some tips but be sure you are using white paste not that gel one.

1. Goggles, mirror, diving mask or any other glass item can be cleaned efficiently with toothpaste. Just apply small amount on glass surface and wipe it off with lint free cloth.
2. To get rid of nasty smell of garlic, onion and fish from your palm just rub small amount of toothpaste  thoroughly on your palm and wash with water.
3. Toothpaste works wonder on minor burns (please note not open wound). For instant relief and cooling effect apply toothpaste on the affected area.
4. Toothpaste can sparkle silver, brass and metal jewelry also. Apply small amount on brush and brush it gently on the metal surface let it dry, rinse it with water and wipe with cloth for shine. It will turn grungy metal into shiny one in no time.
5. Crayon marks on wall is way too difficult to take out. No need to worry as toothpaste can do it for you. Just a dab of it on crayon mark and then rub it gently with wet cloth and let it dry. But be sure that your wall paint allows you to do it, sometimes paint can fade and glossy wall can look less shiny. So better apply on small area first and then see the result.
6. You can clean your iron too. Yes those black patches on your iron can spoil your cloths. Apply toothpaste on iron's surface and scrub gently. Your iron will look new.
7. Now for some clean and clear skin. Apply small amount on pimples, insect bites or bee sting leave it overnight and wash it off in the morning. It reduces blemishes very quickly.
8. To get rid of sour milk smell from baby's milk bottle, take toothpaste on sponge and apply inside the bottle rinse it properly.
9. It can make your sink shiny. Just apply toothpaste all around the sink, faucet and drain, rub it and rinse properly, Sink not only will shine but will smell good also.
10. Take little amount of toothpaste on brush and brush gently on finger nails and toenails. It will make them shiny and healthier.
11. Toothpaste works well in removing stains from cloths and carpet also. Apply small amount on stain rub it vigorously and then wash in washer. Don't use this on bright colored cloths.
12. Apply elbow grease, water and toothpaste on furniture and then wipe off with  cloth. Your furniture will shine like never before.
13. Sometimes we see those water rings on tables and are too tough to get rid of. Just a tiny drop of toothpaste and rub it off with cloth.
14. You can bring those scratched CDs and DVDs again to life by applying toothpaste on scratched side of CD/DVD and rub gently in circular motion then wipe off.
15. Toothpaste works wonder on scuffed up leather items and sneakers. Apply small amount on the surface with brush , rub it and then wipe it with clean cloth.

Did you know that apart from 25-45% water, toothpaste contains:
1. Fluoride
2. Abrasive
3. Detergent
So please take care of sensitive surfaces and areas before using toothpaste. Its always good to run small patch test before using it on skin, bright colored cloth & bold colored or glossy walls.
Do you know some other unusual use of toothpaste.....do share with us :)

Valentine's day Tablescape: Table For Two

Sharing my emotions that I can't hold today........................

My husband has made me laugh, wiped my tears, hugged me tight, watched me succeed, seen me fail, cheered me on, kept me going strong. My husband is a promise from God that I'll have a friend forever

Now let's start setting a table for two for that special day- Valentine's Day!!

Valentine's Day

Have you figured out what colour combination do you want for Valentine's day table setting. I chose red & white for this special occasion. As my crockery and table accessories have red and white in abundance. So it was easy for me to go with this combination.

The napkin ring is made of Quilled Heart that you can see in my earlier post. A name tag is placed on the plate with initials written on it.

Valentine's Day

Simple yet lovely and I think perfect for an occasion everything red & white. Candles and lamps complete the romantic look.

Valentine's Day

Here are some glow and glitter for that romantic ambiance.

Valentine's Day Craft: Quilled Heart

You must have read my earlier post 'Inspiring Eminent Blogger: Suganthi'. She is Quilling Artist and has her unique way of Quilling. I loved all her artwork and instantly fell in love with this art. I tried my hand on Quilling earlier also. I made Quilled flower wreath on Christmas. This time I made Quilled heart as you all know Valentine's Day is just around the corner. This craft is very easy and you can involve your kids also as I did.

Valentine's Day Craft

I made this quilled heart and then added bead hanging inside it. To make quilled heart, take a red quilling stripe and fold it into half. Roll both the ends inwards, one after another using quilling needle and then stick both the coils together.

Valentine's Day Craft

To hang beads inside quilled heart was very simple. Just thread, needle & beads and your quilled heart will look even more cute :)

Valentine's Day Craft

Look at the images and you will be able to understand how to make these cute little hanging quilled heart.

Valentine's Day Craft

Now the next steps is to hang them on a branch.

Valentine's Day Craft

I had this dried branch and I painted it red. All the little heart are now hanging beautifully on a Love Tree.

Valentine's Day Craft

And spreading love..............
Valentine's Day Craft

See....Love is in the air :))

Valentine's Day Craft

Tree is looking lovely but I think it needs something more........

Valentine's Day Craft

I have an idea to make it more lovely, more beautiful........probably will show you in my next post.

Valentine's Day Craft

Till then try making this love tree for your loved ones and don't forget to show me the images.

Inspiring Eminent Bloggers: Suganthi

Blogger who is with us today is Suganthi who blogs over at Daydreams. Suganthi is very talented Quilling artist and has been blogging about this art for more than three years now. Her each and every quilling project is so unique and looks masterpiece. You have to see it to believe it.

Welcome Suganthi, I am very excited to have you here on Design Decor & Disha. Please let us know little more about you.
I am a stay at home mother of two teenage boys. I studied to be a computer engineer, after my marriage I started to explore my aptitude for arts and crafts.

When and how you realized your passion about Quilling.
While looking for a tutorial on folding trees website I found a tutorial for a quilled snowflake, I fell in love with quilling that instant, the simplicity of the shapes and the materials used drew me to it. I found even my first pieces being admired and that got me started.

Quilled Floral Pattern
Can you talk about what prompted you to start the blog. In what ways has blogging affected your Quilling.
Me and my son one day in December  2009 just started a blog and posted my first two works just for fun, since starting a blog is so easy, I did not take it seriously until other bloggers started appreciating my work and following me ,Blogging has helped me learn so much in such a short time from other bloggers and from my own experiments. Every quiller has an unique style and bring something fresh to quilling which no one book can give. It is a great learning experience.

Quilled Daisies
What are the tools you use for Quilling.
There are so many new tools for quillers today, I used a slotted tool for rolling but my favorite is a needle tool. I use a needle tool for all my favorite projects.

3D Quilling
Of all your Quilling projects which one is your favorite and why.
My Quilled Durga is my most favorite, it was not easy but I am most happy with it. It is so far my biggest project.

What are the future projects you will be doing.
There are so many techniques which I am yet to try, I would like to do more quillography like my New year post.

What other then Quilling you love to do in your spare time.
I like to read books, sew, learn to crochet and story telling .

Please share the links where we can find your Art work and where my blog readers can get connected with you.
This is where I blog http://papercraftss.blogspot.in/, you can also find me on Facebook

Spring Flowers
Which blogs inspire you and you love to visit them regularly.
Ann Martin's http://www.allthingspaper.net/  is my greatest inspiration. Ann features great paper artists and she is also my quilling inspiration.

Last but not the least, as everyone dreams of being something in life, what you have dreamed of.
I dream of quilling big frame works. I love making quilled jewelry. I would love to grow in that direction .

Thank you Suganthi for being with us. I wish you all the best for your future and may all your wish come true. Now a request to my blog readers to visit Suganthi's lovely blog and shower your love by following and commenting.

Now time to show how I got inspired by Suganthi. Sharing image of quilled heart, more about this in my next post so stay tuned.

Moment Of Creativity, Togetherness & Love

Some times my son & I just pick up brushes and colors and get lost in creating some memory. Here I have to say that he isn't a good artist it's just that we want to spend some quality time with each other. I so love that time of togetherness, creativity, fond memories and loads of love :)
I gave him brush & color for the first time when he was two year old (little late I guess) and let him do whatever he wanted....
and this is what he came up with...........

First painting by my son
He found it very interesting. Slowly I introduced him to different types of painting....... thread painting, spray painting & many other. This one is thread painting that he did without my assistance a year ago when he was three & half year old. These paintings fascinated him a lot and he started taking more interest in learning different styles of painting. Sadly his spray painting is missing :( which I would say was far more better than all these paintings.

Thread painting done by my son

Then I gave him liberty to touch and play with my poster colors and see the result......isn't it looking like modern art done by a very polished artist (just kidding). He dipped brush in green color then blue, then black then brown and soon all my color bottles were in same color that was black with hint of blue, green and brown :(((

My son's poster color painting

One day I decided to assist him and tried to do something more creative than usually we do. I tore few colored paper into small pieces, drew outline on a page and told him to stick all those papers in mosaic pattern. He completed it nicely & it turned out as pretty as I had thought. Now this sure going to be framed and will beautify my son's room :) Proud moment for a mommy :)))))

I am keeping journal of everything he creates and just love to peek into it every now and then.
I so want to hear from you. Please share your views here...!!!
